Longwood University College Soccer Wrap-Up

LONGWOOD DEFEATED BY LIBERTY, 3-0

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood University men’s soccer team was defeated, 3-0, by Liberty University (1-1) on Saturday evening at the Athletics Complex in Farmville. Tonight’s match marked the first-ever Big South Conference home contest for the Lancers (0-3) since officially joining the league on July 1. The game featured a ceremonial coin flip with former Longwood standout Shane Johnson to honor all of the student-athletes who helped the school attain conference affiliation. LONGWOOD WOMEN FALL ON THE ROAD AT APPALACHIAN STATE 3-0

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University dropped a 3-0 non-conference women’s soccer decision on the road at Appalachian State University of the Southern Conference Sunday afternoon in Boone, North Carolina.  The Lancers (3-2) trailed just 1-0 at the intermission before lightening in the area delayed the start of the second half that witnessed the Mountaineers (2-3) adding two more goals.  Longwood will play again on Sunday, September 9, on the road again at UMBC of the America East Conference in Baltimore, Maryland beginning at 1 p.m. (Read Full Story)

AUBURN, Ala. - The William and Mary women's soccer team defeated Auburn, 2-0, Sunday afternoon from the Auburn University Soccer Complex.  Behind senior Mallory Schaffer's penalty kick score and junior Dani Rutter's ninth career goal, W&M tallied the program's seventh win over SEC competition.  The win improves the College's record to 3-2, while Auburn falls to 3-3 on the season.  The win was the 350th for W&M's head coach John Daly.  In his 26th season at the helm of the Tribe program, all of Daly's triumphs have come at the College. WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary men's soccer team defeated Richmond, 3-0, Saturday night from Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.  Senior Ben Anderson netted an early first-half penalty kick score, while junior Roshan Patel and sophomore Chris Albiston recorded goals in the second-half, as the Tribe pulled away in the decisive three-goal victory.  The win improves W&M's record to 1-1-1 on the season, while the Spiders fall to 1-2 on the year. Women’s Soccer Blanks Texas 3-0 in Road Opener

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 7 Virginia women’s soccer team posted its fourth straight shutout victory, downing Texas 3-0 Friday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The Cavaliers got goals from Molly Menchel (Alexandria, Va.), Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) and Caroline Miller (Rockville, Md.) as they won their road opener for the first time since the 2008 season.

FALL 2012 ASA YOUTH REFEREE CLASS will be held September 10 and 11 in the Black Box Theater in Kenmore Middle School 630-915pm.

This class is ONLY for:
1.    Arlington & Falls Church Youth at least 13 years of age as of September 15, 2012
