Richmond Men Host GW Friday, Ask For Support to Save Program

RICHMONDVA – (Wednesday, October 3, 2012) – The University of Richmond men’s soccer team will play host to George Washington University this Friday, October 5 at Robins Stadium, on the campus of the University ofRichmond.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and all members of the media are invited to attend.

Players from the University of Richmond men’s soccer and track teams were notified late last week that their sports teams have been dropped by the University to make room for men's lacrosse. This, despite the fact that the men's soccer and track team members represent so much of what is right about college athletics: passion, perseverance, academic and athletic excellence.

The University of Richmond alumni, students, faculty members, and broader Richmond community have rallied and are committed to getting the soccer and track teams reinstated.  They are encouraging community members to attend this Friday’s home game to show support of the program.
