RICHMOND, VA – (Wednesday, October 3, 2012) – The University of Richmond men’s soccer team will play host to George Washington University this Friday, October 5 at Robins Stadium, on the campus of the University ofRichmond. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and all members of the media are invited to attend.
Players from the University of Richmond men’s soccer and track teams were notified late last week that their sports teams have been dropped by the University to make room for men's lacrosse. This, despite the fact that the men's soccer and track team members represent so much of what is right about college athletics: passion, perseverance, academic and athletic excellence.
The University of Richmond alumni, students, faculty members, and broader Richmond community have rallied and are committed to getting the soccer and track teams reinstated. They are encouraging community members to attend this Friday’s home game to show support of the program.
what a poor decision...Drop a fall sport for a Spring sport. Typical American attitude and a preppy suitcoat...soccer is played world-wide and will attract International students that will enrich the campus community and enhance the quality of the soccer program...any Lax Internationals? Not to mention that soccer is played in many more hs in the US than Lax...oh, lax is played in most private schools...I forgot myself. Come on.
