HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The William and Mary men's soccer team concluded its 2012 season playing Hofstra to a 2-2 draw on Friday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.  Sophomore Chris Albiston and junior Zachary Montebell each netted goals for the Tribe in the contest.  With W&M up 2-1 late in the match, Hofstra managed to net the equalizer in the 82nd minute as both squads didn't yield a goal in the two overtime sessions en route to the stalemate.

The Green and Gold closes the 2012 season with a record of 4-10-4 and a CAA mark of 2-5-3, while Hofstra will enter next week's CAA tournament as the No. 4 seed with an overall record of 11-5-2 and league ledger of 5-4-1.
Albiston opened the scoring in the 19th minute as he shelved junior Chris Perez's pass from the left side into the far corner of goal.  The goal was Albiston's third of the season, while the assist marked Perez's fourth of the year. The Pride responded when Tyler Botte connected on his third goal of the season in the 24th minute.

Answering right back, the Green and Gold went ahead 2-1 in the 39th minute when Perez sent a through ball to a streaking Montebell, who netted the Tribe's second goal of the afternoon.  The score was the first of Montebell's career, while the assist was Perez's second of the day, which tied the Annandale, Va., native for the team lead.
In the 82nd minute, Hofstra was on the receiving end of a fortunate break after W&M headed in the Pride's corner kick attempt.  Regulation ended with both teams deadlocked at 2-2.  However, neither squad managed to get on the scoreboard in overtime and the match ended in a draw.

Hofstra owned the advantage in shots, 22-15, while the Tribe held the edge in shots on goal, 8-7.  W&M sophomore keeper Alex Harrington finished the match making five saves.

Tribe Men's Ryan Flesch named CAA Rookie of the Week

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary men's soccer freshman midfielder Ryan Flesch was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday.  The Manassas, Va., native connected on the game-winning goal in the 87th minute of the College's upset victory at No. 8-ranked Old Dominion last week.

For the year, Flesch has seen action in every match and has earned the start on five occasions.  In his 15 appearances, Flesch has tallied four points on two goals.  His first collegiate goal came in the 57th minute of the College's 4-1 route over Drake on Sept. 14.

In its lone match last week, W&M upended No. 8 Old Dominion, 2-1 last Wednesday night in Norfolk, Va.  After the Monarchs netted the night's initial goal, the Tribe responded with two unanswered scores courtesy of sophomore Marcus Luster and Flesch.  In dramatic fashion, Flesch netted the clincher in the 87th minute when his shot from the left side of box sailed into the top right corner of goal.  The victory was the Tribe's first over a top-10 opponent since defeating No. 5 SMU, 3-2, in the 2011 season opener.

Tribe soccer returns to action on Wednesday night when it travels to James Madison for a match slated to begin at 7 p.m.
