CHARLOTTESVILLEThe No. 7 Virginia women’s soccer team concludes its non-conference schedule this weekend with the Virginia Nike Soccer Classic at Klöckner Stadium. The Cavaliers welcome three in-state rivals, George Mason, James Madison and Richmond, for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday.

The Virginia Nike Soccer Classic begins Friday as part of a soccer tripleheader at Klöckner Stadium. The tournament begins at 2 p.m. as James Madison plays Richmond. The Cavaliers follow at 5 p.m. as they meet George Mason. The final game of the day features the Virginia men’s soccer team as it opens ACC play against Duke at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday’s action begins at noon with George Mason playing Richmond. Virginia and James Madison will conclude the tournament with their matchup at 2:30 p.m., a game that will be available to watch online through Cavaliers Live (subscription required).

Tickets for each day are $7 for adult general admission and $5 for youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission. Group tickets (20 or more) are $4.

The Cavaliers (5-1) enter the weekend riding a five-game winning streak. Last weekend they traveled to Austin, Texas, where they won the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational with a 3-0 win over Texas and a 2-1 win over SMU.

George Mason evened its record at 3-3 with a 3-1 win at Howard on Tuesday. The Patriots have already met one ACC opponent this season, falling 3-1 at home to Maryland on Aug. 31. James Madison enters the tournament with a 2-2 record this season after a 2-1 loss at Penn last week. Richmond is 1-4 this season and is coming off its first win of the year, a 3-1 victory over Villanova.

This season marks the 25th year the Cavaliers have hosted an in-season tournament. Virginia has won the event 14 times, including four of the last five years.

The Virginia Nike Soccer Classic begins a four-game homestand for the Cavaliers. Next week Virginia opens ACC play at home against NC State on Sept. 13, and North Carolina on Sept. 16.
