Tribe’s Abrigo, Smith Earn All-State Honors
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary Tribe men's soccer
players
Nicolas Abrigo and
Will Smith were honored by the Virginia Associate of Sports
Information Directors (VaSID) on Thursday, earning All-State accolades. Abrigo
was named to the all-state first-team, while Smith earned second-team
honors.
After breaking out at the 2010 CAA Tournament where he earned CAA Most
Outstanding Player honors, Abrigo kept that momentum going during the 2011
campaign for the Tribe. The South Riding, Virginia native led the team this
season with 20 points and nine goals, earning First-Team All-CAA and Third-Team
All-Region honors. Abrigo had a knack for coming through when it meant most
this year, tallying a conference-best five game-winning scores.
With a solid rookie season already under his belt, Smith had an even better
year in 2011, earning All-CAA Second-Team accolades. A consistent force and
leader on the Tribe's backline, the center back Smith played every minute this
season for the College. Smith also helped out on the offensive end this year,
tallying an assist in the Tribe's wins over UNC Greensboro and Towson.
