Chesterfield United's U16 ASL Academy girls won 3 out of 4 games at the Mayor's Cup International Showcase in Las Vegas this past weekend. The showcase attracted over 225 colleges and universities to recruit players over the 3 day event. After a narrow to defeat to the eventual finalist, Cal Blues of Northern California, the girls went on to defeat Heat FC of Nevada (State Cup Finalist), Grand Rapids Crew Jrs (Michigan State Cup Semi Finalist), and Dakota Rev (Minnesota State Cup finalists).
"I am so proud of the girls and the way they went about their business this weekend. They prepared professionally and went into every game with the right attitude. They have grown closer as a group, and I can't wait to get back on the field and continue the hard work that has already been put in."-Dale Parker, Girls Director of Coaching
Leading the way for Chesterfield United was the back four, only allowing 2 goals in 4 games, including 2 shutouts. Offensively, Jojo Taylor (Prince George HS) scored 4 goals in 4 games, with the other goal coming from a 35 yard strike from Jackie Zerull (Thomas Dale).
"Overall, the trip was a success. I think for the girls, this should have proved to them that they are not only capable of competing at a very high level, but also being successful. Within a five day period, Dale and I saw the girls become closer as a team, and in return, were able to work together to play some great soccer. As Technical Director, I couldn't be more proud of the way they represented the club."- Pat McStay, Technical Director
