Tech records best season start in program history

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 11 Virginia Tech women’s soccer team kicked off the Wake Forest Tournament with a 1-0 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini Friday night at Spry Stadium. Shannon Mayrose connected on the goal as Tech remains undefeated.

The Hokies improved to 7-0-0 on the season, while Illinois fell to 3-2-1. Tech’s seven wins mark the best season start in program history, as well as matching its most consecutive wins which came in 2009.
