Virginia senior defender Hunter Jumper Named Candidate for Lowe's Senior CLASS Award

The University of Virginia announced that senior defender Hunter Jumper has been named one of 30 candidates for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for Men's Soccer, as announced Wednesday.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
Jumper has started 62 games during his three seasons with the Cavaliers. He has three goals and nine assists for 15 points. A three-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree, Jumper also has been named to each of the last two ACC All-Tournament teams. He was selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District second team in 2010.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the Senior CLASS Award® winner during the 2011 NCAA Men's and College Cup championship, Dec. 9-11, in Hoover, Ala.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplify excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
