USL W-League Round-up


Three Virginia W-League teams where in action this past week and here is a quick round-up of their results.

Fredricksburg Impact win 1-0 vs Northern Virginia Majestics

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Fredericksburg Impact scored early and used a solid defensive effort to earn the first win in franchise history with a 1-0 victory against the Northern Virginia Majestics in their inaugural game in the W-League on Saturday at the University of Mary Washington.

Virginia Beach Piranhas fall 2-1 to Dayton Dutch Lions

The W-League Piranhas are still on the search for their first win after losing their season opener last week, and they came close to at least a draw Saturday night. But the Dayton Dutch Lions mustered an 84th minute goal on an unstoppable shot by Ashley Botts when she found space in the center of the Piranhas' penalty area and left the Sportsplex with a 2-1 victory. Brittany Persaud had given the Dutch Lions an early lead before Samantha Hare equalized for the Piranhas in the 22nd minute.
