Washington, D.C. (May 22, 2011) - D.C. United announced today that the team will unveil its 2011 third kit for the first time against the Los Angeles Galaxy in a League contest on June 3. The match is set for 11:00 p.m. ET from the Home Depot Center, with Fox Soccer broadcasting the contest nationally.

D.C. United will wear the new red jersey in another nationally televised contest on July 2 against Philadelphia Union at RFK Stadium. This match will also be carried by Fox Soccer. The team will wear the third kit once more at home on July 23 in an international friendly with Everton of the Barclays Premier League. Lastly, United is scheduled to don the red uniform on August 21 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, the new home of Sporting Kansas City. The Sporting Kansas City match will be carried locally on Comcast SportsNet, as well nationally by Galavision.

D.C. United’s third kit was revealed to the public at the Washington Auto Show - presented by Volkswagen, which took place on January 29. In addition to the players wearing the full kit that day, a giant 15x15 foot replica third jersey was hung in the main lobby of the Washington Convention Center for the remainder of the event.

Created by adidas and prominently featuring the Volkswagen logo, the third jersey is available for $110 at http://www.dcuteamstore.com/ and at the Team Store, located in the third level of RFK Stadium. In addition, $5 from each jersey sale will be donated to Red Card Cancer, a fundraising initiative for cancer research in partnership with John Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
