Tribe Men's Soccer Head Coach, Chris Norris |
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The annual Crapolfest weekend, which celebrates the life of former Tribe soccer player Andy Crapol, is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, in Williamsburg. In its fourth year of existence, this year's edition of Crapolfest will feature a 5K run, a one-mile fun run/walk, a golf outing at the Golden Horseshoe and a mini golf event with all proceeds going towards the Andrew E. Crapol Soccer Scholarship Fund.
Andrew Crapol was a four-year letterwinner for the William and Mary men's soccer team who lost his battle with cancer during the spring of 2009. An extremely coachable player, the Williamsburg native played in 38 career matches for the Tribe, scoring four goals, including the game-winner against Coastal Carolina during the 1999 season. He graduated from the College in 2001, earning a degree in economics
Since the inception of Crapolfest, the weekend celebration alone has raised over 29,000 thousand dollars with all funds benefiting the Andrew E. Crapol Soccer Scholarship Fund. As of January 2012, the Andrew E. Crapol Men's Soccer Scholarship Endowment has over 200,000 thousand dollars in its investment fund.
