UMW Women Defeat Shenandoah, 1-0

Junior forward Erin Reynolds scored the game's only goal in the 105th minute to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Shenandoah University on Monday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 9-1-2 on the year.

The Eagles had several quality chances in the early going, but the Hornets stemmed the tide, as the game remained scoreless through halftime. Shenandoah applied pressure offensively late in regulation, but the Eagles turned each chance away to send the game into overtime.

After one scoreless extra period, Reynolds provided the heroics after her initial shot was saved by Shenandoah goalkeeper Nichole Pratt. The rebound came right back to Reynolds, who squeezed in a successful attempt through the goalie for the score.

The Eagles led in shots, 13-8, and in corner kicks, 5-3. Charlotte Owens had two saves for the Eagles, while Pratt had six stops for the Hornets.

Mary Washington will return to action on Saturday when they visit Marymount University in Capital Athletic Conference action at 1:00 p.m.
