CHARLOTTESVILLE – The No. 6 Virginia women’s soccer team returns to action on
Friday as it hosts No. 12 Wake Forest at Klöckner Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.,
and the game will be broadcast online on the ACC Digital Network, available on
YouTube.
Tickets are $7 for adult general admission and $5 for youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission. Group tickets (20 or more) are $4.
Virginia Athletics is celebrating SOCA Day at Klöckner Stadium this Friday. All members of the Soccer Organization of Charlottesville-Albemarle have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the game at the group ticket price of $4. SOCA members can wear their soccer apparel to the game to receive the discount at the ticket windows.
The Cavaliers (10-2-1) enter the week in third place in the
ACC with a 3-1-1 record. Virginia bounced back from a 3-1 loss at No. 10
Maryland last Thursday with a 1-0 win over No. 5 Duke on Sunday at Klöckner
Stadium.
Wake Forest (9-3-1) is in fourth place in the ACC with a
3-2-0 conference mark. The Demon Deacons downed Clemson 4-0 on Sunday in
Winston-Salem in their only game last week.
The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 13-6-2, including a
5-2-1 record in Charlottesville. Wake Forest won last year’s matchup 2-0 in
Winston-Salem. In the last meeting at Klöckner Stadium in 2010, Virginia posted
a 2-1 win despite playing the final 77 minutes with 10 players after an early
red card.
Following Friday’s game, Virginia will play its next three
games on the road. That trip begins Thursday as the Cavaliers visit Miami. Game
time in Coral Gables is 7 p.m.
