Miller Named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week
Cavalier senior forward earns national award after four-goal week
CHARLOTTESVILLE Virginia senior forward Caroline Miller (Rockville, Md.) was named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Miller had a pair of multi-goal games as the Cavaliers opened conference play.

In Virginia’s 4-0 win over NC State on Thursday, Miller scored twice in a span of 86 seconds of the second half for her first multi-goal game of the season. She followed that performance by scoring both Virginia goals in a 2-2 draw with No. 6 North Carolina. She became the first Cavalier since Angela Hucles in 1996 to score twice in consecutive ACC games.

Miller moved into the top 10 of Virginia’s career goal list last week and is now tied for ninth with 32 career goals. Of her eight career multi-goal games, five have been against conference opponents and four have been against top-10 competition.

It is the second career national player of the week honor of Miller’s career, as she earned the accolade from TopDrawerSoccer.com during her freshman season in 2009.

Miller and the No. 5 Cavaliers (8-1-1, 1-0-1 ACC) return to action on Sunday as they visit Clemson. Game time at Historic Riggs Field is 1 p.m., and the game will be broadcast online by ESPN3.
