UMW men dominate play but fall to No. 12 Montclair State


The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at #12 Montclair State University on Saturday in Montcalir, N.J. The Eagles fall to 4-2 on the season.

The Eagles led in shots, 8-5, in the first half, but found themselves trailing, 1-0, after Almir Batista scored at 12:03. In the second half, UMW outshot the hosts, 10-5, but allowed another tally, at 51:01, from Brian Cullen, in the 2-0 defeat.

UMW led in shots, 18-10, and also in corner kicks, 6-3. Sophomore Tyler Back had five saves in goal for UMW, while Anthony Rogic had five saves in gaining the shutout for Montclair State.

Mary Washington will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Gettysburg College at 7:00 p.m.
