William and Mary men's soccer team returns to Martin Family Stadium at
Albert-Daly Field on Wednesday, Sept. 19, as it hosts Elon in a match slated
for a 7 p.m. start. W&M enters the
contest with a record of 2-3-1, while the Phoenix come to Williamsburg with a
mark of 3-2. Fans can follow the action

Scouting the Tribe
The College returns home after playing two matches in the Creighton Invitational last weekend. The Green and Gold cruised past Drake, 4-1, in its first contest, while it fell to No. 2 Creighton, 2-1, after leading the match for 32 minutes in the invitational finale. Against Drake, senior Ben Anderson tallied a goal and one assist, while sophomore Marcus Luster connected on his second score of the year. Freshman Ryan Flesch and junior Chris Perez notched their first goals of the season against the Bulldogs. Against No. 2 Creighton, the Tribe raced out to an early lead when sophomore Patrick O'Brien netted a goal in the 23rd minute. For the next 32 minutes, the Green and Gold preserved the lead until Creighton netted two-second-half scores. For the year, Anderson leads the Tribe with seven points coming on two goals and three assists.
Scouting the Phoenix
Under the direction of eighth-year head coach Darren Powell, Elon comes to town with a record of 3-2. In its last outing, the Phoenix were edged, 2-1, at No. 21 Coastal Carolina. For the year, Elon has netted 13 goals in only five matches, which gives the Phoenix a national ranking of No.12 in goals per game at 2.6. Senior Chris Thomas leads the Elon attack with six goals and two assists. Thomas ranks second in the nation with 1.2 goals per contest, while his 2.8 points per outing rank third.

- All-time, the Green and Gold is 2-0 against Elon, owning an aggregate score of 3-1 over the Phoenix. The schools last met during the 2008 season when the Tribe captured a 2-1 road win. W&M opened the 2007 season at home by defeating Elon, 1-0, behind Jeremy Harris' goal in the 55th minute.
- After its mid-week date with Elon, W&M opens Colonial Athletic Association play Saturday, Sept. 22, when it hosts Northeastern at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field in a match slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
- Nationally, senior Ben Anderson ranks 38th in the country in both total assists (3) and assists per game (0.5).
- Since 2000, the Tribe is 22-4-4 in non-conference home matches in the month of September. Highlighting the mark is the College's 1-0 victory over No. 1 Maryland on Sept. 22, 2004.
