Virginia Beach, Virginia - The W-League Piranhas are pleased to announce the signings of Brazilian forward Janaina Novaes from Lee University and England's center mid Elisha Fry from Lindsey Wilson College. Both internationals have earned NAIA First-Team All-American honors. They join the Piranhas subject to USL and USSF approval.
Novaes, a native of Toledo, Parana, Brazil, is the leading scorer in Lee University history, scoring 96 goals in 118 games from 2004-2007. She currently serves as the Women's Soccer Graduate Assistant Coach at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Novaes has been named a three-time NAIA First Team All-American, NAIA All-Honorable Mention, three-time Region Player of the Year, four-time Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and two-time SSAC Female Athlete of the Year in 2005 and 2007. She has played for the Brazilian National Team and the Champion Sulamerican Brazil National Team.
Elisha Fry was born in Munster, Germany and now calls Guisborough, England her home and has played for Sunderland WFC in England.
The 20-year-old center midfielder from Lindsey Wilson College was named a 2010 NAIA First Team All-American, and a 2010 Mid South Conference First Team All-American. She scored 12 goals and two assists in 23 games in 2010.
