William & Mary Men's Soccer: Alan Koger Drafted by the New England Revolution in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft

Williamsburg, Va. - After a stellar four-year career at William and Mary, Tribe senior Alan Koger was taken in the third round (54th pick) of the 2011 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the New England Revolution. With his selection, Koger becomes the ninth player in program history to be drafted in to the MLS.


Koger finished his career with the Tribe with a fantastic offensive season in 2010. Koger was named First-Team All-CAA last year after being selected to the All-CAA Second Team in 2009 and the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2007.

In 2010, Koger was a force for the College, leading the Tribe with nine goals and 20 points. Koger’s nine goals were the third-most in the CAA, while his 20 points also ranked him third in conference. Both College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer named Koger National Player of the Week on October 25 after scoring all four of the Tribe’s goals in its victories over James Madison and Delaware.

For his career, Koger tallied 68 points on the strength of 29 goals and 10 assists. Koger ranks in the top-10 at the College in career shots (190) and career game-winning goals (9). Koger’s five game-winners in 2010 rank him in a tie for third in school history.

Koger’s selection in the MLS SuperDraft marks the second-consecutive year that the College has had a player taken. In 2010, Andrew Hoxie was taken in the third round with the 37th pick by San Jose.
