A message from our friend Jared Montz at OnlineSoccerAcedemy.com :
I am very excited to announce publicly the OSA World Juggle-a-thon to benefit Nothing But Nets! The team and I at OnlineSoccerAcademy.com and our event partners and volunteers have been working very hard on this event for three months now. It is off to a great start and we have a lot of soccer clubs and professional players on board to participate. Below is a short summary.
Every 45 seconds a child in Africa dies from malaria—a preventable disease carried by mosquitoes. We can help. This is why we created the OSA World Juggle-a-thon, a worldwide fundraiser put on by OnlineSoccerAcademy.com to support the Nothing But Nets campaign. Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Through this campaign, anyone can donate just $10 to purchase a bed net, deliver it to a family, and educate them on its proper use.
On World Malaria Day—April 25—at 6pm their standard time, soccer players, coaches, and fans everywhere are invited to participate by juggling to raise money for life-saving nets. Anyone can juggle anywhere; by themselves, with friends, teams, or soccer clubs. Participants will collect donations and pledges leading up to the OSA World Juggle-a-thon, and then juggle as much as they can on April 25. After the event, jugglers will mail in the money they raised, and receive an official OSA World Juggle-a-thon t-shirt and other goodies. The goal is simple – for each juggler to raise at least $30, to send at least three bed nets to protect families from malaria. Working together through soccer, we can help protect entire communities from this deadly disease. Juggle to get better. Juggle to save lives.
Above is a video explain the Nothing But Nets cause. Find out more at NothingButNets.net.
We are very excited about the OSA World Juggle-a-thon and we will be announcing more details soon as well as creating a section of our website for all OSA World Juggle-a-thon information so you can learn how you can fund raise and juggle to get better, juggle to save lives.
What can I do now to help?
For now, just mark your calendars for April 25, 2011 and practice your juggling! We will announce more details soon so keep checking back often. You can also sign up for our email newsletter or sign up to become an OnlineSoccerAcademy.com player (it’s Free) and you will be notified as soon as we have more information.
How can my team or soccer club help?
Good question. We are contacting every soccer club in the country we possibly can to let them know about the OSA World Juggle-a-thon. We are asking soccer clubs to participate via two options. Option one for clubs is to support our event and email their players/parents about it and encourage everyone to participate. Option two for clubs is to host an official OSA World Juggle-a-thon party. This is where everyone at the club will come together at 6pm their standard time on April 25, 2011 and participate in the OSA World Juggle-a-thon. After the juggling ends clubs are encourage to have a party or social event.
So what you can do now as a player, parent, coach or club official is contact your club and tell them you think it is a good idea they participate in the OSA World Juggle-a-thon. Send them a link to our website and tell them what we do. You can also contact me directly and let me know about your club wanting to be a part of it and I can send them all the paperwork they need for the club board to review.
Also as a player, parent, coach or club official you can start to tell your friends and teams about this and set up an OSA World Juggle-a-thon party for your team and friends.
After April 25, 2011 OSA World Juggle-a-thon participants will be asked to email in photos and/or video of themselves, teams or clubs juggling. Then we will make this giant mash up video of players from all over the world juggling and announce how much money we have raised! It’s going to be awesome!!
I would love to hear your feedback on the OSA World Juggle-a-thon, Nothing But Nets and how we could possibly make this event cooler and save more lives at the same time. Stay tuned! We will be putting out a lot more details and content about the OSA World Juggle-a-thon soon.
Remember if you Believe in it® and back up the up with hard work anything in life is possible.
