CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s soccer team will begin play at the 2010 ACC Tournament on Wednesday (Nov. 10) in Cary, N.C., at WakeMed Soccer Park. The sixth-seeded Cavaliers will face No. 3 seed Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m.

Virginia (10-4-3, 2-4-2 ACC) is the reigning conference champion, having won the 2009 Tournament as the No. 5 seed. In all, UVa has won a combined 15 ACC Men’s Soccer Tournament and Regular-Season Championships.
Wake Forest (8-8-2, 4-3-1 ACC) wrapped up its regular-season with a 2-1 loss to fourth-seeded Duke on Friday (Nov. 5).
The Demon Deacons won the regular-season meeting with Virginia, 1-0, on Sept. 18 in Charlottesville.
The teams met in last year’s conference tournament semifinal (Virginia advanced 5-4 on penalty kicks after a scoreless draw) and in the NCAA College Cup national semifinal (Virginia won, 2-1, in overtime).
North Carolina is the No. 1 seed at the 2010 ACC Tournament, followed by No. 2 Maryland, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Boston College, No. 6 Virginia, No. 7 Clemson, No. 8 NC State and No. 9 Virginia Tech.
The Wolfpack and Hokies get the tournament started with a 1 p.m. match on Tuesday (Nov. 9), with the winner facing the top-seeded Tar Heels on Wednesday.
Should Virginia advance to the semifinal, its match would be played at 5:30 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 12).
The championship match will take place on Sunday (Nov. 14) at 1 p.m., and will be televised by the ACC’s Regional Sports Network (Comcast SportsNet in the Charlottesville area).
