Mark Washo steps down as full-time President and General Manager of Washington Freedom, will remain with club during transition
OFFICIAL WASHINGTON FREEDOM PRESS RELEASE:
BOYDS, MD (November 23, 2010) –Washington Freedom announced today that Mark Washo will step down as full time President and General Manager of the team. However, Washo has agreed to continue as a key resource, including ongoing day-to-day GM responsibilities for Freedom during a transition period.
Washo leaves Freedom to join Playbook Management International as its Managing Partner www.playbookmanagement.com. Playbook Management International (PMI) is a full-service sports and entertainment agency, founded by former FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park General Manager, Michael Hitchcock. In his new role, Washo will be able to tap into the many resources of his new agency to support Women’s Professional Soccer and other sports teams in ticket sales, sponsorship and other revenue generating opportunities.
Washo stated: “It is with a heavy heart that I am stepping down as full time President and GM of the Washington Freedom. I would like to thank John and Maureen Hendricks for providing me with an exciting two years as President of the Washington Freedom. I would also like to thank Freedom fans, sponsors, staff and players for their ongoing passion and commitment supporting Women’s Professional Soccer. While I will be stepping down from full time responsibilities at an exciting time for WPS, I am committed to remaining as much a resource for Freedom as they want or need in my new capacity with PMI. I will also always be an advocate and supporter of Women’s Professional Soccer.”
