James River Lady Knights claim Pioneer District crown

James River claimed the Pioneer District regular season girls soccer crown, as the Knights rode past host Bath County, 4-2, Monday night.

Bath County scored the first goal of the night, followed by Lady Knights' Haley Baker goal, assisted by Heather Reynolds, tying the game at the end of the first half, 1-1.

The disappointment has not diminished at all among the 16 returning players from a Langley boys’ soccer team that won its first 15 games last season before losing its final two – the first a penalty kick thriller to rival McLean in the Virginia AAA Liberty District tournament championship and then an ignominious defeat to Mount Vernon in the first round of the Northern Region tournament.
