magic running out | Former Washington Freedom franchise hit with penalties by WPS

Since being sold to Dan Borislow and turned into one of the sorriest excuses of a "professional sports franchise" in recent American sports history, the once proud Washington Freedom are now the laughing stock of Women's Pro Sports.

The league announced that due to the inability of magicJack team owner Dan Borislow to play by the rules set forth by the WPS, the team has been penalized with the following:

Are fans of Women's Professional Soccer witnessing the slow, ugly death of the highest level women’s professional soccer league in North America? As a fan of both soccer and women's soccer I hope this is not the case however with the weekly decline in attendance and a history of inability by WPS to find suitable ownership to run it's franchises (see L.A. SOL, St. Louis Atletica, FC Gold Pride) it seems to be all but written is stone.

Should the remaining teams finish up the 2011 WPS Season and look to join forces with the established USL W-League?
